Should women get haircuts in a barbershop?

My wife has always worn her hair quite short, but recently she has started going to my barber to have her hair cut.He really scalps her, the sides and back are cut with a #2clipper blade, and the top isn't even an inch long. The style looks good on her, but is this a little severe?
