How well would Windows XP work on the new aluminum Macbooks using bootcamp?

It will work perfectly, no problems at all. The boot camp utility installs all the drivers Windows will need to operate on Macintosh hardware. However, you could get a similarly configured Windows laptop for about 40% less than you would be paying for the Macintosh. If you're going to be using Windows programs all the time, this might be a better choice.
